Sciences of Health Professions for Prevention

The objectives of Second cycle degree are consistent with Dublin Descriptors. Graduates of this course are licensed health professionals and specialists with a good understanding of the public health policies/aims and with scientific base knowledge for contributing in people health. The programme provides the students with knowledge and skills allowing them to better understand the basic elements of prevention, to assess and evaluate health prevention and promotion programmes in public health and to participate in health and social services planning and management.

General Information: Class: LM/SNT4, Course type: Second cycle degree, duration: 2 years. The objectives of Second cycle degree are consistent with Dublin Descriptors. Graduates of this course are licensed health professionals and specialists with a good understanding of the public health policies/aims and with scientific base knowledge for contributing in people health. The programme provides the students with knowledge and skills allowing them to better understand the basic elements of prevention, to assess and evaluate health prevention and promotion programmes in public health and to participate in health and social services planning and management.
Educational and professional goals
The master degree programme in Sciences of Health Professions for Prevention is designed to provide graduate with the necessary training to: make decisions concerning the organisation and management of health services, including preventive and protection healthcare services and the Local Health Authorities; employ the necessary health economics and business organisation skills in order to organise health services and manage the human and technological resources available, evaluating the cost/benefit ratio; monitor specific sectors of the health organisation within the sphere of preventive healthcare; make use of research methodologies and tools for the management of preventive healthcare services; develop teaching competences and plan and carry out educational initiatives in order to provide refresher and continuing training in relation to the relevant healthcare facilities.
Career opportunities
At the end of the two-year programme, Prevention Techniques graduates will have acquired the knowledge and technical competencies to work professionally in public and private prevention services. Graduates carry out their professional activities in health care facilities, public or private, in National/regional departments PublicHealth either as employees or freelance workers, as supervisors/organizers of efficacious services and structures. Furthermore they can carry out research and teaching activities at university.
