Sciences and Techniques of Preventive and Adapted Physical Activities

Preventive and Adapted Physical Activities degree last for two years. Teaching will typically be conducted via lectures and seminars, but you can also expect laboratory sessions (when studying exercise physiology and sport medicine); practical sessions (in rehabilitation gyms, fitness rooms, swimming pools); and independent research and study. Admission in Preventive and Adapted Physical Activities degree requires the possession of the Exercise and Sport Science degree, or equivalent foreign degree. Only 100 students including 2 non-EU places are admitted.  Students are expected to develop theoretical knowledge alongside applied practical skills. Assessment is based on coursework; written, oral or practical exams; and laboratory reports. Towards the end of the course, you may be required to write a dissertation and/or conduct a piece of independent research.

Preventive and Adapted Physical Activities degree prepares future health & fitness professionals who can make significant impact on the quality of life of people dealing with special needs, such as disabilities, chronic medical conditions, post-operation recovery, and aging-related health issues. Knowledge and techniques acquired in the program lead students to successfully develop implement and evaluate adapted physical activity programs for individuals with various special needs.
Job options
Graduating students typically seek their careers as an adapted physical activity coordinator in a private, public or non-profit sector, a clinical/therapeutic exercise specialist in medical settings, and an adapted fitness instructor in residential rehabilitation facilities. In addition, they can work as senior exercise specialist, and an adapted physical education teacher/consultant in a school setting or school district, adapted aquatics or aquatic therapy specialist in clinical settings and an entrepreneur in rehabilitation and retirement industries.
